Sunday 2/1 Entry

Thomas Allen

Again, the lack of truth in depicted reality is what intrigues me most in this work. Allen's cutout pin-ups and cowboys play out eerie narratives, forcing the viewer to either laugh or twist uncomfortably. A lot of his work seems to discuss interaction between men and women, masculinity and femininity, oftentimes with sexual overtones.

Although his work is obviously cut out from source material, it still draws the viewer in, forcing them to envision the scene as a pseudo-reality.
